During your trek, you may not be able to find the same quality lodges you can find in Kathmandu, as you will be staying at simpler teahouses or lodges with basic amenities. You may come across shared facilities such as bathrooms and showers, with hot water usually being provided at an additional fee. Although the accommodation may be basic, our guides will pick the best, with fantastic views of the surrounding area.
During your stay in Kathmandu, breakfast is included in your package. You can even choose the type of breakfast you prefer, ranging from Italian, Continental to local Nepalese cuisine. Nepalgunj’s options are gratifying, though you shouldn’t expect the same level of culinary excellence as you would find in Kathmandu.
When you go out on a trek, you will be provided with three delicious and nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) daily. During your trek in remote villages like Simikot and Dharapuri, the teahouses offer a more limited menu, yet they allow you to sample some truly local dishes and flavors. From hearty dal bhaat to delightful Tibetan momos, you will surely discover something that tickles your taste buds.

The trail is off the beaten path, providing a remote and rugged experience. The terrain is filled with ascents, descents, and rough paths, making the trek quite challenging. The difficulty increases from the seventh day of the trek as you embark on long day hikes in higher altitudes. As you traverse from Kermi to Yalbang, Tumkot, and Yari, you will find yourself hiking for five to seven hours, gaining altitude with each step.
On the 10th day, you will take on the mighty Nara La Pass, which towers more than 4000 meters in height. It’s an intimidating task, but one that can be conquered. On days 11 and 12, you will embark on an 8-hour hike to the villages of Manepeme and Til. This can be a strenuous trek for those new to mountaineering, but the stunning views from up high make it all worth it. On day 15, you ascend to even higher Nyaula La, nearly at 5000 meters.
Although the trek may seem daunting, we assure you that the itinerary has been carefully planned to include necessary rest days, enabling you to complete the trek efficiently.
Springtime from March to May and autumn from September to early December are the most favorable and enchanting times of the year to embark on this remarkable trek. The crisp morning air and the vibrant colors of the changing season bring a special kind of beauty to the landscape. During this time of the year, the lush green hills are filled with a pleasant and sweet fragrance, while the colorful wildflowers adorn the meadows.
During the monsoon season of June to August, when the cloudbursts wreak havoc elsewhere, Limi Valley remains relatively dry, making it an ideal spot to get out and explore. The trails are sheltered by the high peaks, giving you a little respite from the rain, and the lush greenery is breathtakingly beautiful.
Trekking during winter in high-altitude areas on the trek, like Nara La Pass, Talung, and Nyaulu La, can be a daunting task. From late December to February, the snow can start to pile up, making it more challenging for the most intrepid of travelers. But those not afraid of the cold can still take on the trek and experience the beauty of the snow-covered landscape, making a memory that will last a lifetime.
For this remarkable trek, trekkers must be physically fit and in good health. To prepare your body, consider doing light cardio, stretching, and strengthening exercises a few weeks before the trek. This will help you acclimate to the high altitudes and adapt to the changing weather conditions. Pack plenty of warm clothes and a good pair of hiking boots.
Also, observing acclimatization or rest days is essential to a successful trekking experience. Acclimatizing to higher altitudes is of utmost importance, as failure can result in altitude sickness. The day of arrival or rest days should be used solely to observe and get used to unfamiliar surroundings and prepare for the next part of the journey. This can involve taking short hikes and adjusting to the air pressure and temperatures.
Each day brings its own unique experience, starting with an early morning wake-up call and a hearty breakfast. Depending on the route, you will spend your day hiking for 5 to 6 hours, taking in the incredible scenery around you. As you go to the trek’s final leg from day 15 to day 18, you will have to hike for 7 to 8 hours each day to make it to the destination.
We will take a break at noon for lunch, take pictures and record video clips of the surrounding splendor — capturing memories that will last a lifetime. Afterward, we continue our journey until we eventually reach our destination — a local teahouse or reserved night shelter.
It is mandatory for all tourists visiting the Humla district to obtain restricted/controlled area permits. Foreigner permits cost US$90 for ten days per person, and a minimum of two foreigners must be included in the group.
It is essential to have travel insurance when traveling as it serves as a safeguard in case of an unexpected situation. It is recommended to obtain travel insurance that provides coverage for medical emergencies, helicopter rescue, air ambulance, flight cancellations, personal expenses, loss/theft of luggage, repatriation, evacuations, and altitude sickness.
The Humla Limi Valley has no available drinking water sources that can be accessed directly. It is, therefore, recommended to bring a purifier or SteriPen to ensure safe and clean drinking water. Purchasing water in the region may be significantly more expensive than in Kathmandu.
Absolutely; our representative will be at the airport to facilitate your transfer to your hotel.
This trek requires significant physical activity, with a daily walking duration of 5-6 hours. Thus, it is suitable for those with prior experience with long-distance hikes, as it would be beneficial in traversing the terrain.

Limi Valley Trek has been my third trekking in Nepal.
Like every year, Peregrine Trek suggested me this incredible trek. We trekked for 20 days in Humla Region on the North West side of Nepal at the border with Tibet. This part of Nepal is frequented by tourists but offers magnificent landscapes. Two friends on their first trek in Nepal came home delighted. Peregrine Treks staff has provided our every need with efficiency, professionalism, and sympathy both in Kathmandu and during camping trekking.
No doubt I’ll be back next year for a new adventure.
