Overview of Langtang Trek

The trekking trails of Nepal have been renowned as the best holiday place in the world. Among many such classic trekking trails of Nepal, the Langtang Trek has been known for a century.

Earlier, pilgrims took a tough climb to Gosaikunda to wash their sins. Gosaikunda is considered holy for both Hindus and Buddhists alike. This perfect amalgamation makes the most beautiful trek in Nepal. 140 km from Kathmandu, towards the North, the Langtang trek is an easily accessible trek.

This trek mixes the distinct landscape, high mountain views, and lakes in Gosaikunda. Thanks to fascinating local history, each chapter of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is full of wonder- the culture and lifestyle, glaciers and mountains, and flora and fauna.

Langtang Trek highlights

  • Explore the renowned Kyanjin Gompa, and its cheeses factory
  • Witness the pristine beauty of the holy lake of Gosainkunda
  • Witness rich Tibetan culture and hospitality within the Tamang ethnic group
  • Visiting the sacred lake of Gosaikunda
  • Spectacular mountain view from Tsergo Ri and Gosaikunda La pass (4610m)

The path follows the river via a pine, bamboo, and rhododendron forest. The engaging scenario of yaks dwelling in the pastures makes the stunning alpine meadows.

These two weeks of the walk via the Langtang valley are moderately complex. Walking on the Bhote Kosi River banks to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake offers expansive mountain views.

You interact with the welcoming Tamang people and witness their religious practices and language. The pleasing local and Buddhist monasteries that appear out of nowhere make the charming Langtang valley trek.

Langtang 2015 Earthquake

Your adventurous journey to the Langtang Gosaikunda region will significantly contribute to the local economy. These regions experienced the worst hit by the devastating earthquake in 2015. The people not only lost their homes, but many lost their family members and beloved ones.

But now, they have been trying to recover from their grief. The essential infrastructures have been rebuilt with all safety measures. Moreover, they have built the tea house with modern facilities and utmost comfort. Your stay in Langtang will be a fun and fruitful time.
